Broughshane Primary School is situated in a pleasant rural village that is surrounded by a predominantly farming community. The village has grown dramatically over recent years with new housing and commercial developments 'springing up'. The school building was built in 1964 and a purpose-built and fully equipped Infant Department added in 1989. Then in September 2004 a Nursery Unit was opened.

The primary school caters for approximately 300 pupils and the nursery 26 pupils, and altogether employs twelve full-time teachers and one part time teacher and principal. The staff provide a good balance of youth and experience and as well as the normal primary curriculum offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities.
